Popular Nigerian skit maker, Carter Efe, has reportedly lost access to both his Instagram and TikTok accounts, a development that follows swiftly after he publicly criticized Afrobeat superstar Wizkid during a recent TikTok live stream. The content creator has since issued an apology, attributing the account removals to the concerted efforts of Wizkid's fervent fan base, known as Wizkid FC.

The controversy ignited on Tuesday when Carter Efe, during a live TikTok session, made disparaging remarks about Wizkid, accusing the Grammy Award-winning artist of arrogance and labeling him an "idiot." Specifically, he stated, “If Wizkid calls me my G, that means Lion don get belle. E no fit happen. That boy too get pride, idiot.”

In response, furious members of Wizkid FC swiftly mobilized, issuing threats to report Carter Efe's social media accounts across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. By Wednesday evening, Carter Efe took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to lament the alleged success of their campaign.

"FC una collect my Instagram account of 1.8 million followers," he posted, confirming the disappearance of his significant Instagram presence. A few minutes later, in an apology video, he revealed that his TikTok account had also been blocked.

"This is getting too much, TikTok account gone, FC una betrayed me," Carter Efe expressed in his plea. He directly addressed the fan base and Wizkid, stating, "Abeg make una forgive me Wizkid FC. Wizkid abeg no vexxx help me beg FC abeggggg I’m in severe pain.”

The incident highlights the immense power and influence of dedicated fan bases in the digital age, capable of coordinating mass reports that can lead to the suspension or removal of social media accounts. While platforms like Instagram and TikTok have policies in place for user-reported violations, the sheer volume of reports from a mobilized fan base can often trigger automated or swift reviews leading to account action.

Carter Efe, known for his viral skits and music, particularly the hit "Machala," a tribute to Wizkid, now faces the challenge of recovering his digital platforms and navigating the fallout from his public comments. The situation serves as a stark reminder of the volatile nature of online discourse, especially when it involves prominent public figures and their devoted followers.
