Nigerian superstar Tems is taking her commitment to the next generation of artists beyond the stage, unveiling a new mentorship program designed to equip young women with the skills and resources to navigate the music industry.

A Two-Day Seminar in Lagos

Set to debut in Lagos on August 8 and 9, The Leading Vibe Initiative will offer an immersive two-day seminar for 15 to 20 young women interested in careers in music.

According to organizers, participants will have the chance to deepen their songwriting and production skills, gain industry insights through panel discussions, and network with established creatives and executives. The program will also include studio sessions, tutorials on various aspects of the music business, and hands-on training.

In addition to personalized guidance, attendees will receive production software and other essential resources to support their creative development.

Building Community and Opportunity

Tems described the initiative as part of her mission to open doors for emerging talent:

“My goal with the Leading Vibe Initiative is to help discover and support talented young women who have the potential to redefine the industry. By providing access, tools and opportunity, we’re creating space for them to find their voices, step into their power and shape the future of music across the continent and globally.”

While the first edition is focused on Lagos, plans are already in place to expand the program to other cities across Africa, reflecting a long-term commitment to supporting women in music.

Partnerships and Industry Support

As part of the program, Tems has partnered with Native Instruments, the renowned music technology company, which will be providing tools, software, and support to the participants. She has also joined the Native Instruments artist board—a collective that includes global stars like Alicia Keys, producer Noah “40” Shebib, Jacob Collier, and composer Ludwig Göransson.

Mentors and guest speakers for the Lagos seminar will be announced in the coming weeks. Applications are currently open to eligible candidates until July 13.

A Record-Breaking Career

Tems’ launch of The Leading Vibe Initiative underscores her position not only as a chart-topping musician but also as a leader dedicated to nurturing the next generation.

The Lagos-born singer has risen to international acclaim with her distinctive blend of R&B, soul, Afrobeats, and alté influences. She is the first Nigerian artist to win two Grammys and has scored multiple Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hits, including a No. 1 single. On the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, she boasts 10 top 10 entries, with two reaching No. 1.

Beyond music, Tems also holds an ownership stake in the MLS franchise San Diego FC, highlighting her broad entrepreneurial reach.

Looking Ahead

With The Leading Vibe Initiative, Tems is offering more than mentorship—she’s creating a space where young women can claim ownership of their creative futures and shape the industry on their own terms.

By connecting emerging talent with resources, training, and a supportive community, the program promises to help redefine what’s possible for women in African music and beyond.
