Lagos is set to welcome an unforgettable evening of music, fashion, and cultural exchange as the United States Mission in Nigeria partners with Runway Jazz to stage a world-class concert featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra led by legendary trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.

The event will take place on Sunday, October 5, at 5 PM, at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, blending diplomacy with the universal language of music.

A Lineup of Global and Local Stars

In addition to the internationally acclaimed orchestra from New York, the concert will showcase an impressive mix of global and Nigerian talents. The lineup includes Weedie Braimah, Shenel Johns, Herlin Riley, Godwin Louis, Made Kuti, Yinka Davies, Jerry Omole, and Timi Dakolo.

Runway Jazz, known for merging music with fashion, will also highlight Nigeria’s vibrant creative scene by featuring top fashion icons on the same stage, offering audiences a multisensory experience that bridges style and sound.

Diplomacy Through Culture

The concert will be graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Matiama Tugar, as special guest of honour. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will serve as chief host, while the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard M. Mills Jr., will co-host the evening.

Organisers say the event reflects the growing importance of cultural diplomacy, using music and the arts to foster understanding and strengthen ties between nations.

With jazz — a genre long celebrated as a symbol of creativity, freedom, and dialogue — at its core, the concert promises not just entertainment but a statement of collaboration between Nigeria and the United States.
