The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to celebrate the unique ceremony, praising the creativity and innovation behind it. “From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track. History made — the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination. At NRC, every ride tells a story,” the post read.
The couple exchanged vows aboard a decorated Lagos–Ibadan train, which departed from the Mobolaji Johnson Station in Alagomeji-Yaba, Lagos. One of the train coaches was transformed into a fully adorned wedding venue, complete with floral arrangements, bridesmaids, groomsmen, guests, and officiating ministers, turning the journey into an intimate celebration of love and adventure.
The event quickly went viral online, with fans and social media users praising the couple for redefining Nigerian weddings and showcasing innovation in the entertainment and lifestyle scene.
Several celebrities were in attendance to support the newlyweds, including Stan Nze and his wife, Blessing, as well as actor Buchi Franklin, further highlighting the event’s star-studded appeal.
Faqua and Ifunanya’s train wedding has now set a new benchmark for creativity in Nigerian matrimonial celebrations, proving that the journey can indeed be as memorable as the destination.
