Timeless Flavour, Modern Spirit: Celebrate Old Fashioned Week with ANGOSTURA® Orange Bitters.

From classic builds to contemporary reinventions, ANGOSTURA® remains a trusted staple on the global cocktail scene.

This October, the spotlight returns to one of mixology’s most enduring icons, the Old Fashioned. Crafted with intention and sipped with appreciation, it's a cocktail that continues to captivate with its simplicity, sophistication, and enduring legacy.

To honour this timeless serve this Old-Fashioned Week, ANGOSTURA® introduces a uniquely South African-inspired take: the Cape Citrus Old Fashioned. This reimagined version pairs the comforting warmth of locally distilled single malt whisky or potstill brandy with the floral richness of fynbos honey syrup.

Elevated by the vibrant citrus spice of ANGOSTURA® orange bitters, it’s a cocktail that nods to tradition while embracing bold, modern flavour.

Cape Citrus Old Fashioned Recipe
Ingredients:

  • 50ml South African Single Malt Whisky or Potstill Brandy
  • 10ml Fynbos Honey Syrup (2:1 honey to water)
  • 2 dashes ANGOSTURA® orange bitters
  • 1 dash ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters
  • Optional garnish: Orange twist + fresh rosemary
 Method:

Stir all ingredients over ice until chilled and diluted to perfection. Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube of ice. Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink, then garnish with the peel and a sprig of rosemary if desired.

The result is a spirit-forward serve with a velvety smooth texture, vibrant citrus brightness, and aromatic complexity, a cocktail that bridges heritage and innovation in every sip.
