The singer’s itinerary began with a warm official reception at Lagos House, Marina, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hosted a brunch for leading creatives shaping the city’s cultural landscape. Welcoming Ciara, the governor remarked that her presence reflects the rising international spotlight on Lagos as a centre of creativity and style.
But it was her appearance on the Lagos Fashion Week 2025 runway that generated the loudest buzz. Stepping out in a striking red custom Fruche bubu and moving to gospel Igbo rhythms, Ciara delivered a moment that had the audience erupting from front-row seats to the back of the Federal Palace Hotel Ballroom. Elegant yet edgy, her walk instantly became one of the most talked-about highlights of the fashion season. Organisers emphasised that the annual event—which kicks off the October/November fashion calendar—remains a vital platform for discovering African fashion and fostering global connections.
Her Lagos tour didn’t end under the bright lights. Ciara ventured into Balogun Market on Lagos Island, stunning fans as she browsed aso ebi fabrics, cheerfully announcing she planned to sew outfits for her husband and children. She mingled freely with locals, posing for photos with children and soaking in the bustling atmosphere. When Governor Sanwo-Olu encountered her again during this outing, he jokingly declared, “You’ve taken over the city.” Ciara replied without hesitation: “I am home.”
Adding to her cultural stops, she visited the Nike Art Gallery, where she embraced traditional fashion once more—this time donning a dramatic adire bubu, complete with an elaborate headpiece and irukere.
A personal milestone also formed part of her Lagos agenda. Ciara celebrated her belated 40th birthday at Timothy Oulton in Lagos, an event hosted by Lagos Tourism and an entertainment company. There, she cut her Nigerian-style birthday cake, rounding out a festive evening.
The energy of her Nigerian trip carried into her recent reunion with supermodel Naomi Campbell at the CFDA Awards in France. Gushing, “Lagos is insane,” Ciara recounted her experiences as they shared Nigerian dishes—jollof rice, fish stew and more. Both stars ended the moment with a promise: they’ll be back in Lagos for Detty December, ready for “back-to-back” festive vibes.
