Nollywood audiences have propelled the film Behind The Scenes to record-breaking box office success, with the Funke Akindele-led production grossing ₦512 million, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of 2025.
The film had its advanced screenings on December 10 and 11 before officially opening nationwide on December 12. FilmOne Entertainment, the movie’s distributor, confirmed the milestone in an Instagram post on Monday, calling the achievement “historic” and thanking cinema-goers in Nigeria and Ghana for their support.
“And yet, another history has been made. Thank you, West Africa for showing up, filling cinemas, and carrying this story with love,” the distributor said.
In addition to its total earnings, Behind The Scenes has become the fastest Nollywood film this year to cross the ₦500 million mark. FilmOne highlighted the film’s dominance over the weekend, noting it topped box office charts and continues to draw audiences.
“₦512M at the box office. Highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025. Fastest Nollywood movie to hit ₦500M. Number one film of the weekend,” the statement read.
The film, which explores the theme of black tax, stars Scarlet Gomez in the lead role, alongside Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uche Montana, Uzor Arukwe, Ini Dima-Okojie, Adebowale ‘Mr Macaroni’, Ibrahim Chatta, Kamo State, and reality TV personalities Handi and Wanni Danbaki.
Earlier reports by PUNCH Online indicated that the movie crossed ₦200 million in its opening weekend, making it the first Nollywood film of 2025 to achieve that milestone. FilmOne noted that it had recorded the biggest opening weekend of the year, setting five box office records for weekend admissions in 2025.
The ongoing success of Behind The Scenes underscores the growing audience appetite for locally produced films and signals a strong finish for Nollywood’s 2025 box office season.
