Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has etched his name in AFCON history following Nigeria’s emphatic 4-0 win over Mozambique in the Round of 16 in Morocco.

Lookman was at the heart of the victory, scoring one goal and providing three assists, bringing his tournament tally to three goals and four assists across just three matches. According to Opta, this makes him the player with the most goal contributions in the 2026 AFCON so far.

The Atalanta star also set a new record, becoming the first player since the 2010 edition of the tournament to register multiple assists in more than one AFCON match. Earlier in the group stage, Lookman had provided two assists in Nigeria’s 3-2 victory over Tunisia.

His outstanding performances have not only propelled the Super Eagles into the quarter-finals but also highlighted Lookman as one of the tournament’s standout stars, combining goal-scoring prowess with creative playmaking.

With the knockout stages intensifying, Lookman’s record-breaking form could be pivotal to Nigeria’s quest for another AFCON title.
