Three-Year Milestone for The Best of Sade
The Best of Sade has now accumulated 156 weeks on the Billboard 200, marking exactly three years on the chart—the first time a Sade album has reached this longevity milestone. In its latest charting week, the compilation moved five spots down to No. 95, according to Luminate, after selling the equivalent of 13,200 units. The majority of these units were generated through streaming on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, while more than 1,800 came from traditional album purchases, including digital downloads, CDs, and vinyl.
Chart Longevity Among Sade’s Albums
While The Best of Sade holds the record for the group’s longest stay on the Billboard 200, it is not Sade’s highest-charting release. All nine of the band’s albums have reached the top 10, with the compilation peaking at No. 9. Only Lovers Live charted lower, reaching No. 10. Two of Sade’s albums—Diamond Life and Promise—achieved multiple weeks at No. 1. Meanwhile, Love Deluxe has logged 103 weeks on the Billboard 200 and could soon become the band’s second album to celebrate a two-year presence on the ranking.
Movement Across Genre-Specific Charts
Beyond the Billboard 200, The Best of Sade is seeing shifts across several genre-specific rankings. On the Top R&B Albums chart, the compilation fell from No. 10 to No. 12, having just broken into the top 10 last week. Similarly, on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, it slid from No. 30 to No. 35.
Dominance in Jazz Rankings
Sade continues to demonstrate strong performance in the jazz arena. The Best of Sade remains No. 1 on the Jazz Albums chart, marking 26 weeks at the summit, and maintains an unbroken streak atop the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart for 80 weeks. This ongoing dominance highlights the compilation’s appeal across multiple audiences, from R&B fans to jazz enthusiasts.
Even decades after its initial release, Sade’s music continues to draw dedicated listeners, proving the lasting power of Adu’s smooth vocals and the band’s timeless sound.
