The bank said the appointment reflects UBA Group’s continued focus on deepening its presence outside Africa and reinforcing its role as a key financial conduit between African markets and the rest of the world.
In a statement, UBA noted that Mishra will be tasked with positioning UBA UK as a centre of excellence in regulatory compliance and customer service, while enhancing the subsidiary’s financial resilience through diversified liquidity and income streams. His mandate also includes strengthening UBA UK’s leadership in trade finance, transaction banking and correspondent banking to support growing business flows between Africa and global markets.
Mishra brings decades of international banking experience across retail, corporate, investment and transaction banking. The bank highlighted his strong track record in building and leading regulated banking platforms in the UK and Europe. Prior to joining UBA UK, he served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank UK, where he expanded the bank’s footprint across the UK and Europe and strengthened governance standards, regulatory engagement and operational resilience.
His earlier roles at ICICI Bank Limited included Group Head of Wholesale Banking and Global Head of Transaction Banking, positions in which he played a key role in expanding the bank’s global wholesale franchise and reinforcing risk management frameworks.
Commenting on the appointment, UBA Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Oliver Alawuba said Mishra’s global perspective and regulatory expertise would be instrumental in advancing UBA UK as a flagship subsidiary of the Group and in supporting trade and investment flows between Africa and international markets.
Mishra, in his remarks, welcomed the appointment and described UBA’s mission of connecting Africa to global markets as strategically significant. He said he looks forward to working closely with the Group to further strengthen UBA UK’s platform and support client growth across Africa and beyond.
