Controversy has trailed recent remarks by Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha following comments he made about the late mother of internet personality Bobrisky.

During an interview with actress Biola Bayo, the actor reflected on his time in prison, where he claimed to have encountered Bobrisky. He dismissed earlier reports that the social media figure was held in a hotel facility, insisting instead that they were kept in the same cell alongside other inmates.

Recounting the experience, Baba Ijesha alleged that Bobrisky appeared visibly distressed upon arrival, describing scenes of emotional breakdown. He, however, portrayed the crossdresser in a more positive light, stating that Bobrisky was generous in detention and often shared food with fellow inmates.

The actor further drew attention with claims about Bobrisky’s mother, alleging that she frequently visited the prison, brought food, and cooked for a large number of inmates—sometimes feeding hundreds during her visits. He also described her as emotional during these moments.

The remarks quickly sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning their accuracy. Critics pointed out that Bobrisky’s mother had reportedly passed away years earlier, casting doubt on the actor’s account and fuelling debate across social media platforms.

The development comes shortly after Baba Ijesha’s return to public life following his imprisonment over a sexual assault case. In 2022, he was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of assaulting a minor, a case that drew national attention after allegations were made by comedienne Princess.

His release was earlier announced by actor Yomi Fabiyi, who shared the update publicly and welcomed his return.

The latest controversy has further intensified scrutiny around the actor, with many calling for clarity over his statements.
