Nollywood producer and cultural advocate Thompson Ukeki has announced the upcoming season of Pride Heritage, billed as Africa’s first diplomatic cultural heritage reality television show. The new edition is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, featuring contestants from 27 African countries in a 54-day competition broadcast live around the clock.

Speaking on the initiative, Ukeki explained that the show aims to revive and promote African cultural heritage while fostering unity and creative exchange across the continent. Operated under the umbrella of the Afrik Ultimate Hero Search, Pride Heritage seeks to spotlight indigenous traditions, languages, and artistic expressions, combining entertainment with cultural education.

Ukeki, widely recognised for his contributions to cultural development, has received accolades from continental bodies, including the African Union, in connection with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), for his work as a cultural diplomatic ambassador. He highlighted that his efforts align with the African Union’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, aiming to leverage local and traditional knowledge to ensure that “no one is left behind.”

At a recognition event in Abuja, Ukeki described the honour as a significant responsibility for a young African leader, saying, “It is an honour for me to be entrusted with such a great responsibility as a young African.” He was presented with an honorary plaque and a customised vehicle plate number for his contributions to cultural promotion, creativity, and humanitarian services.

In February 2025, Ukeki was appointed West Africa Youth Ambassador under the ECOWAS Youth Parliament, acknowledging his commitment to youth empowerment, regional integration, and the preservation of African heritage through media and entertainment. Reflecting on the appointment, he said, “This appointment is more than a personal achievement—it is a call to serve, to lead with integrity, and to champion the dreams of millions of young Africans. I accept this responsibility with deep humility and unwavering commitment.”

Ukeki emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, innovation, and visionary leadership to address the socio-economic challenges facing West African youth. His leadership and humanitarian contributions have also earned him the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity, further solidifying his reputation as a principled cultural advocate.

Through Pride Heritage and other grassroots initiatives, Ukeki continues to champion cultural education, creativity, and sustainable development, positioning himself as a leading voice in the revitalisation of African identity across the continent.
