Grammy-winning Nigerian star set to kick off 13-day festival of music, culture and creativity
Grammy-winning Nigerian music star, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, is set to headline the opening night of the 2026 Detty December Fest in Lagos, as organisers prepare for a major entertainment programme during the festive season.
The festival organisers, Livespot360, announced Wizkid as the headline act in a post shared on their official Instagram page on Thursday.
The 2026 edition is scheduled to run from December 18 to 30, offering 13 days of music, culture and creative entertainment across two stages.
“The countdown to December begins. Wizkid headlines the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026,” the organisers said.
Wizkid to open festival on December 18
The grand opening concert featuring Wizkid is scheduled for Friday, December 18, at 6pm at the Detty December Village in Lagos.
The organisers described the concert as the official opening of the Detty December season and urged fans to attend what they projected would be one of the major entertainment events of the festive period.
“This is one night the whole internet would claim it attended. Don’t just hear about it, be a part of it!” the organisers said.
Wizkid's headline appearance is expected to add significant star power to the festival, with the singer among Nigeria's most internationally recognised music acts.
Tickets start at N50,000
Ticket information sighted by our correspondent on the Detty December Fest website showed that General Access tickets are priced at N50,000, while Golden Circle tickets cost N150,000.
VIP Standing tickets are available for N300,000, while tables can be secured by request through the event's concierge.
According to the organisers, the General Access ticket provides entry into the festival, including access to music performances, food courts and the marketplace.
The Golden Circle package offers the same general festival access while giving ticket holders a position in a section closer to the stage.
The VIP Standing ticket, meanwhile, provides access to a dedicated standing area close to the bars. The organisers noted that the category does not include seating.
13 days of entertainment
The festival is expected to run for 13 days, with organisers positioning the Detty December Village as a destination for music, culture and creativity throughout the December festive season.
Beyond performances, the programme is expected to feature food, marketplace experiences and other entertainment activities across the festival's two stages.
The organisers also said partnership and hospitality opportunities would be available as preparations continue for the 2026 edition.
With Wizkid scheduled to lead the opening night, attention is already turning to the December 18 concert, which is expected to set the tone for the festival's 13-day programme in Lagos.
