An executive of Dangote Cement Plc has acquired additional shares in the company in a transaction valued at nearly N1 million, according to a regulatory disclosure filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).
The transaction involved the company’s Head of Treasury, Omode Emmanuel Oladimeji, who purchased 986 ordinary shares of Dangote Cement for a total consideration of N996,491.01.
The disclosure was contained in a notice titled “NOTIFICATION OF SHARE DEALING BY INSIDERS”, filed with the NGX in line with the market’s requirements for transparency in dealings by directors and other insiders of listed companies.
The document, signed by Dangote Cement’s Company Secretary, Edward Imoedemhe, identified the transaction as an initial notification of insider dealing under Rule 111 of the NGX Rules Governing Director and Insider Dealings.
The purchase was executed on the floor of the Lagos market on May 4, 2026, and was completed through two separate transactions at different prices.
According to the filing, the first transaction involved the “PURCHASE OF DANGOTE CEMENT PLC SHARES”, comprising “263 UNITS OF SHARES AT #1,008.15 PER UNIT.”
A second tranche followed, involving “723 UNITS OF SHARES AT #1,013.13 PER UNIT.”
Together, the two transactions brought the total number of shares acquired by Oladimeji to 986 ordinary shares. Based on the aggregate consideration, the shares were acquired at a volume-weighted average price of approximately N1,010.64 per share.
The disclosure forms part of the statutory reporting framework governing transactions in the shares of companies listed on the Nigerian capital market. Such notifications are intended to give investors timely information about share dealings by individuals who, because of their positions within a company, may have access to significant corporate or financial information.
Dangote Cement, the largest cement producer in Sub-Saharan Africa, is one of the most closely followed companies on the Nigerian Exchange, making disclosures involving its senior executives of particular interest to investors and market analysts.
Insider transactions are routinely monitored by investors because they can provide an indication of how senior personnel perceive the prospects of their companies. While an insider purchase does not, on its own, establish a forecast about a company’s future performance, investors may view such transactions alongside earnings, market conditions, valuations and other fundamental indicators when assessing a stock.
The latest disclosure therefore adds another data point for investors tracking Dangote Cement’s shareholding activities and the dealings of its senior management.
The transaction was formally reported to the NGX as required under the applicable insider-dealing rules, ensuring that the information is available to the wider investing public.
