Queen Temi-T was recently honoured with the Outstanding International Radio Presenter of the Year Award at the prestigious GX Awards in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The recognition represents her first GX Awards victory after three previous nominations, marking a significant moment in a career that has spanned nearly two decades and taken her across several areas of the media industry.
Her professional experience includes news reporting, radio presentation, red carpet hosting, writing, media consultancy and media management, giving her a broad perspective on the changing demands of the media profession.
The latest award also comes against the backdrop of several nominations and recognitions she has received over the years. Queen Temi-T was nominated for the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards in the Indigenous Newscaster of the Year category in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Her recognition in the indigenous broadcasting space has continued, with another nomination in 2026 for Best Indigenous Language Radio Presenter.
In addition, she received nominations in the Female OAP category at the All Radio Awards in both 2025 and 2026. In 2025, she was also nominated for, and won, the Gospel Presenter of the Year category at the Kingdom Achievers Awards.
For Queen Temi-T, however, the significance of the latest award goes beyond the trophy itself. She sees it as a reflection of the value of perseverance in an industry where recognition does not always come at the same pace as hard work.
“Talent can open the door, but consistency, discipline, character, continuous learning, professionalism, resilience and the ability to reinvent yourself are what keep you in the room,” she says.
Reflecting on her 17-year journey, the broadcaster noted that success in the media industry cannot be measured solely by the number of awards won. Rather, she believes that sustained excellence, professionalism and the willingness to keep learning can create opportunities even when immediate recognition is absent.
She said there are moments when professionals may face disappointment despite their efforts, but such experiences should not become reasons to abandon their goals.
“Sometimes, you will be nominated and you won’t win. Sometimes, you will work incredibly hard and somebody else will take the recognition. But you must keep going. Your consistency may be preparing you for the moment when your name will finally be called,” she says.
Her GX Awards victory, therefore, represents more than an individual accomplishment. It is also a reminder of the importance of remaining committed to one's craft, particularly during periods when the desired recognition may appear to be taking too long.
Queen Temi-T expressed appreciation to the organisers and judging panel of the GX Awards for the honour. She also acknowledged the role played by her family, fans, colleagues, industry friends, bosses, as well as her past and present management teams in supporting her career.
The award further reinforces her position as a broadcaster who has continued to evolve with the changing media landscape while maintaining her connection with audiences.
Social Media Centre Marketing (SMC), in its reflection on the achievement, noted that public positioning and sustained relevance are not built overnight, describing the latest recognition as another chapter in Queen Temi-T's continuing professional journey. For the broadcaster, the GX Awards honour is not a signal to slow down. Instead, it has renewed her determination to continue learning, evolving, inspiring others and using the media as a platform to make a meaningful impact.
“Seventeen years in, I am grateful for how far I have come, and I am even more excited about what lies ahead.”
Her journey from repeated nominations to a major international recognition underscores a familiar lesson in the creative and media industries: achievement is often the product of persistence long before it becomes visible to the public.
A nomination became three. Three nominations became a win. And that win has become another motivation for Queen Temi-T to continue pursuing excellence.
After 17 years in the profession, the microphone remains on, the passion remains alive, and the journey continues — this time with the Outstanding International Radio Presenter of the Year, GX Awards 2026, added to her story.
