    NDLEA Worry About Use Of Lizard Excreta As Intoxicant

    The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has expressed its worry over the indiscriminate consumption of lizard excreta as another form of intoxicant by youths in the state.
    The Katsina State commander of the agency, Maryam Gambo Sani who stated this while addressing newsmen on the achievements recorded by the agency in 2014, disclosed that there was also increasing menace of petrol, rubber solution and cough syrup consumption.ndlea
    The commander similarly expressed worry over the increasing menace of drug abuse among children between the ages of 10-13 years, adding that there was also the involvement of girls and women in drug abuse in the state.

    According to her, in the year under review, the command had successfully re-arrested a notorious drug dealer, Ibrahim Matsai of Matsai town in Kaita local government of the state with another nine bags weighing 103 kilogrammes.
    She noted that from January to December 2014 the command has arrested 604 drug traffickers, users and barons out of which, according her 17 were females while the remaining 587 were males and also seized a total of 782.926 kilogrammes.

    The commander further disclosed that the command had successfully secured 104 convictions while 64 cases are at various stages of prosecution at the Federal High Court, Katsina.
