Nigerian content creator Officer Woos has dismissed viral claims suggesting he announced the death of fellow skit maker Broda Shaggi, describing the report as entirely fabricated and misleading.
The clarification comes after a post circulated on X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @Ghost91on, which alleged that Officer Woos had taken to Instagram to announce Broda Shaggi’s death.
The post included a photo of Broda Shaggi alongside a caption stating: “Officer Woos just announced the passed away of his brother Broda Shaggi vis his IG page. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
The claim quickly gained traction online, prompting confusion and concern among fans of both entertainers.
Officer Woos Reacts, Calls Claim “False”
Responding directly to the rumour, Officer Woos shared a screenshot of the viral post on his Instagram story and dismissed it as false.
He described the information as inaccurate and urged the public to disregard it.
His legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, also issued a formal statement rejecting the allegation and warning against the spread of misinformation.
“We act as Solicitors to Mr. Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi alias ‘Officer Woos,’ a respected content creator and public figure, and write this statement in response to false and malicious publications currently circulating on social media, particularly X, formerly Twitter,” the statement read.
The firm added:
“It has come to our client’s attention that certain unverified and anonymous social media pages have published claims alleging that our client publicly announced the death of a close colleague on his official page.”
They further clarified:
“Our client has never announced the death of any colleague, friend or associate on any of his platforms. These publications are entirely manufactured and constitute a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.”
The statement concluded with a warning that legal action may be taken against those responsible for spreading the false report.
Background to the Online Speculation
The rumour surfaced months after Broda Shaggi was reportedly involved in a shooting incident while filming at Sango Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026. The incident had already generated online concern at the time, although the comedian did not publicly provide detailed commentary afterward.
As of now, Broda Shaggi has not made any public statement regarding the latest viral death claim.
The episode adds to growing concerns over misinformation in Nigeria’s social media space, particularly involving public figures whose names often trend rapidly based on unverified posts.
