The identity of the "mind-blowing" cameo referenced for the end of Zack Snyder's Justice League has reportedly been revealed.
According to io9, the cameo character is
J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter. An interview with Snyder for Vanity Fair
mentioned a hero cameo at the end "that will blow hard-core fans'
minds." A theory on why Martian Manhunter, a character most devoted Snyder
fans already knew would appear in the Snyder Cut of Justice League, wasn't
called out in the interview is because Vanity Fair didn't want to spoil the
surprise for the majority of its readership that isn't up-to-date on all things
Zack Snyder and Justice League.
The early speculation on Justice League's
cameo centered on Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern, leading to the DC hero trending
on Twitter. When a Twitter user guessed that the Deadpool star was the mystery
cameo, Ryan Reynolds debunked the theory with a response of, "It's not me.
But what a cool pirate flag to cameo as Hal. Maybe it's another GL? But for me,
the suit stays in the closet. I mean, computer."
Fans got their first glimpse at how Martian
Manhunter will look in Zack Snyder's Justice League on DC Chief Creative
Officer Jim Lee's variant cover for March's Justice League #59. Martian
Manhunter appears alongside the DC Films versions of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman
and Jason Momoa's Aquaman.
Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of
Justice star Harry Lennix confirmed that he shot scenes for Zack Snyder's
Justice League that will reveal his character, General Calvin Swanwick, is
secretly the DC hero Martian Manhunter. "It's going to be great to be up
there with Batman and Superman and my pals," Lennix said. "Yeah, I'm
once again like a kid at a candy store."
Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben
Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy
Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray
Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent,
Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex
Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film arrives on HBO Max
March 18.
