Nigerian rap icon and hitmaker Olamide is gearing up for the release of his self-titled album, and the excitement is palpable. Set to drop in June 2025, the 17-track project boasts an impressive lineup of collaborators from Nigeria and beyond, promising a rich blend of global sounds rooted in Afrobeats and hip-hop.

A Global Affair with Star Power

Olamide’s latest body of work is more than just another album — it’s a statement of his artistic evolution and continued relevance in the global music scene. The tracklist, recently revealed by the Grammy-nominated rapper, includes collaborations with Nigerian heavyweights Wizkid, Asake, Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn, and BOJ. International guest features also raise the stakes, with appearances by hip-hop legend Dr. DRE, Jamaican dancehall star Popcaan, UK-based rapper Darkoo, DJ SPINALL, and Latino singer Daecolm.

The diverse ensemble underlines Olamide’s knack for bridging sounds and cultures while staying rooted in his distinct Lagos-born artistry.

Singles Building the Momentum

Ahead of the album’s full release, Olamide has dropped two singles to whet fans' appetites. His latest, ‘99’, features a stacked lineup with verses from Asake, Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn, and Daecolm — a cross-continental collaboration that blends rhythmic intensity with lyrical depth.

Before that came ‘Kai’, released on April 29, 2025, which saw Olamide reunite with Wizkid on a smooth Konto-inspired track. The duo, whose creative partnership spans over a decade, exude chemistry as they weave tales of romance and affluence. Notably, Wizkid appears on two tracks on the album, further fueling anticipation for their continued synergy.

Marking a Milestone

This upcoming release will be Olamide’s 11th solo album, adding to a discography that has helped shape the sound of modern Nigerian music. The project follows Ikigai — his 2023 offering inspired by the Japanese concept meaning “a reason to live.” That album featured standout tracks like ‘Metaverse’, ‘Habibi’, and the Fireboy & Asake-assisted ‘Uptown Disco’.

The new self-titled project is expected to showcase Olamide’s growth, versatility, and enduring relevance. With a career that has spanned more than a decade, he remains one of Africa’s most influential music figures, known for both his lyrical prowess and business acumen.

A Legacy in Motion

Beyond his own artistry, Olamide continues to make waves through his YBNL label, which has produced some of Nigeria’s brightest talents — including Adekunle Gold, Fireboy DML, Lil Kesh, and Asake. His role as both a trailblazing artist and a tastemaker cements his place at the heart of the Nigerian music renaissance.

With this new project, Olamide is not just releasing an album — he’s reinforcing his legacy and reminding the world why he’s a cornerstone of 21st-century African music.
