Nigerian education technology company Edves has expanded its digital education services to 12 countries, supporting more than 2,300 schools as it marks a decade of operations and intensifies efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into teaching and school administration.
The company, which began operations on October 24, 2016, now serves more than 625,000 students, 57,000 teachers and 387,000 parents across Africa, Europe and North America, according to a statement issued on Monday by its Communications Executive, Mary Ayo-Aina.
Initially focused on digitising school administration, Edves has expanded its services to include online learning, student assessments, curriculum management and AI-powered tools designed to support teachers and school administrators.
The growth reflects the increasing adoption of digital solutions in the education sector, as schools and government authorities seek more effective ways to manage academic records, monitor students’ performance and improve classroom instruction.
Beyond its work with individual schools, Edves has participated in public-sector education initiatives in Nigeria, including Enugu State’s Smart Green Schools programme, which covers 260 schools, and Anambra State’s Smart Schools initiative, implemented across 22 pilot local government areas.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer and co-founder, Dimeji Falana, said the initiatives demonstrated the potential of digital platforms to improve the coordination of education systems, strengthen administrative processes and provide authorities with information to support decision-making across multiple schools.
According to him, technology can help education authorities manage school operations more efficiently while improving access to information needed to assess institutional performance and plan educational interventions.
Edves is also broadening its focus beyond administrative functions by introducing artificial intelligence applications for lesson planning, curriculum-aligned assessments and teaching observation.
The tools are designed to help teachers prepare instructional materials, align lessons with established curricula and assess classroom practices, while giving school administrators greater visibility into teaching activities.

In 2023, the company secured seed funding from Beta Ventures, Fondation Botnar and Future Africa to support product development and business expansion.
As it enters its second decade, Edves plans to strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities and extend its international reach, with a continued emphasis on applying technology to practical challenges within education systems.
Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, Dare Adebayo, said the company’s next phase of growth would be measured by the tangible benefits its technology delivers to schools, teachers and learners.
He noted that the focus would be on whether its solutions could improve teaching effectiveness, increase administrative efficiency and contribute to better student learning outcomes.
The company’s next challenge, therefore, will be to translate its growing geographical reach and expanding suite of digital tools into measurable improvements in education delivery as schools increasingly explore technology-assisted approaches to teaching and management.
