Princess ‘Nasa’ is gradually becoming the new gospel music sensation. The young lady, who has taken Brenda Fassie as her role model says her debut album entitled 'Freedom,' which is due for release in February, 2009, will change the face of gospel music in Nigeria.
Nasa had an interview with Wale Onifade on her music career and coming album.
What kind of music do you play
I do gospel music, but I call it Gospel Zulu.
What does that mean
Gospel Zulu is my style of music. Actually, it's drawn from the South African kind of music and it's also one of the tracks in my upcoming album. I also sing pop, cultural and Zulu music.
Where did the influence come from
Actually, the influence comes from God and my mum, my grandmother is also a singer. Some of my mother's family members also sing. They did a lot of vocal and singing. Music has always been a part of me. I mean, it's hereditary.
What has been the response of the people to Gospel Zulu
I just finished the promo copy and a lot of people that listened to it said, 'whao, its good you know.'They love the African part of the song.
Where do you worship
I worship at Daystar Christian Church.
Have you been performing Gospel Zulu in your church
Yeah … I am a chorister, I sing Gospel Zulu in my church.
When do you hope to release a full album
The album is coming out by February 2009.
Any plan for a tour or visit to South Africa because of the kind of music you play
Yes, yes … actually, the first track is 'Freedom.' Brenda Fassie is my role model in music, that's why my first track in the album is in memory of Brenda Fassie. So, I will like to visit South Africa very soon.

I am from a family of four, second girl and third in the family.

I've been performing for over 20 years now, but I started professionally in 2007.
