Johannesburg - An elderly couple was killed when
their apartment at an old age village in Bloemfontein caught fire on Friday
morning, paramedics said.
The fire broke out at the Peter Wessels Old Age Home and left
scores of people without any food, clothes or something to keep them warm. Some
of them could save their personal belongings, but majority lost everything.
When
emergency services arrived at the scene, the free standing apartment was
engulfed in flames.
Security guards said the fire started at around 02:30. The cause was not known yet. The couple, both in their 70's, died on the scene.
