David Chukwunonso
Allison, the husband of Joy Chiedozie Allison who died in the Dana Airlines
flight 0992 that crashed last Sunday in Lagos suburb has filed a lawsuit in
United States against two US companies that manufactured and sold the ill fated
aircraft.
In a suit filed on
his behalf by his attorney Gary Robb in U.S. District Court in Chicago, Mr
Allison blamed the US companies that built the plane and its engines for the
tragic event adding that it is unusual for both engines of aircrafts to pack up
unless there is manufacturer's defects
He hinged his
argument on the statement made by the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah who
stated that the pilot of the plane had reported that both engines of the
aircraft failed shortly before the plane went down and crashed into a densely populated
suburb of Lagos, Nigeria.
Those joined in
the suit are Chicago-based Boeing Company that bought McDonnell Douglass (MD)
and the plane's engine maker, Pratt & Whitney, a Connecticut-based company.
Gary Robb, a
Kansas City based attorney who filed the case for David Allison said the
lawsuit would let his client have access to the plane’s black box analysis and
investigation conducted by authorities to enable him defend his argument.
Mr Allison is
suing for an amount of money yet to be determined. Joy Allison, who lived in
Lagos was among the 153 passengers
who died on Sunday
when Dana Airline flight 0092 crashed in Lagos in about 4 miles to the Murtala
Mohammed Airport.
