The battle line
has been drawn between Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state and Hon Adijat
Oladapo Adeleye, the lawmaker representing Ifo 2 constituency in the Ogun State
House of Assembly.
According to
information available to us, Governor Amosun recently ordered that the official
residence of Hon. Adijat in the legislative quarters be pulled down.
We learnt that
around midday on Sunday 10th of June, 2012, Amosun's agents swiftly
moved to the residence, scaled the fence without prior notice and began to pull
the structure down.
Actually, many
were shocked at the actions of Amosun owing to the fact that Hon Adijat is one
of the strongest members of the Action Congress of Nigeria, the ruling party in
the state.
According to what
we gathered, Hon. Adijat few weeks ago decided to erect a two bedroom boys
quarters on a piece of land in her compound in the legislative quarters for
some of her staffers, and while the construction was going on, some officials
of the state government reportedly told her that she needed to get approval
from appropriate authority before she could build the boys quarters.
We learnt Hon
Adijat stopped the construction immediately and began to work on getting the
approval.
“She was still
processing the approval and didn't get any notice before they came to pull the
place down. The people that came said it was the governor that gave the
directive that it must be pulled down, even without telling Hon. Adijat,” the
source said.
We were informed
that Hon. Adijat was shocked to the bone marrow when she got a call from one of
her aides about the incident. “Hon Adijat left home with the children. She was
taking them back to school in Lagos when those people came to the house. I
think the whole episode is political.
“Amosun is
witchhunting anybody that is not on his side. He has picked on Adijat now, and
we know Adijat is up to the task. How can you give order that your agents
invade people's home on a Sunday, a non-working day? Amosun is just courting
troubles for himself on a daily basis,” the source observed.
