According to the synopsis, Ebube tells the story of "a village girl who goes to work for a career woman in the city, tending to the home and children. Both parties are initially delighted with each other, however the joy comes to an abrupt halt when her madam discovers some newly acquired gifts that her uncle had intended to present to her."
The movie explores themes that are relevant to the lives of modern Nigeria; these include the pressures faced by dual income families, the clash of modern and traditional values and marital jealousy. Critics have praised the performances of Mercy Johnson and Juliet Mgburukwe.
