Lagos Bomb Blast: One Arrested By Police ..."Pius Oladdele Was Assassinated" -Family

The dust is yet to settle over Monday’s explosion under the Festac link bridge in Lagos as unconfirmed sources reveal that one person has been arrested in connection with the explosion.
According to the source, the suspect is presently being detained at the area ‘E’ headquarters in Festac Town.
It is however unclear whether the suspect is a member of the miracle sand sellers association where the blast victim, late Oladele Pius last served as the chairman.
When contacted, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police; Umar Manko told Channels Televsion that he is yet to be briefed about the arrest.
He however gave an assurance that the command will unravel the mystery behind the incident.

24 hours after the explosion that rocked the bridge, linking Festac Town to Amuwo Odofin Housing Estate, we rushed to the victim's family house at Lake View Estate to console with the family and to find out the real cause of his death.

How do you ask a bereaved woman to recall the life and times of her recently dead husband, especially in a manner that Ben left her? For all intent and purpose, it is like torturing an already traumatized woman.
She was lying in coma, trying to recover from the shock, struggling to bring herself back to reality that her breadwinner and husband was no more.
One of the family members begged, "Please, if you are from the media, don't waste your time, she has been in coma for hours now and she's gradually recovering. I advise you to go and find your news elsewhere."
"What else do you want to hear? Pius has been killed and that is all," he said. "Shebi police say na electrical spark kill am?"

When all efforts to speak with the bereaved widow became fruitless, the correspondent cornered a neighbour to speak with. The neighbour had sincerely attributed Pius' death to leadership tussle amongst Sand Dredgers' Association.
According to the source who craved anonymity, Pius, a former chairman of those in the business of sand dredging under the bridge, had survived murder attempts several times before that deathly Monday attack.
Meanwhile, some persons were Tuesday arrested in connection with the explosion. It was gathered that they were linked with the phone call the deceased received shortly before the explosion. Police sources confirmed that the suspects are currently being interrogated by Homicide detectives.
Lagos state police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, insisted that initial investigations showed that the explosion was caused by electrical fault and not a bomb.
"The experts have said the explosion was caused by an electrical fault and not a bomb. No one can fault that for now but investigations are ongoing," she said.
