Opposition lawmakers in the House of Representatives have threatened to override President Jonathan’s veto power on his delay in signing the 2013 budget into law.
Since the budget was passed by the lawmakers, the President has declined in signing it into law. The legislators warned that if the executive wants the cordial relationship it (executive) has enjoyed with the legislators is to continue, the President needs to do what is expected of him.
The opposition lawmakers stated this after a meeting of opposition lawmakers in the House. The lawmakers threw their weights behind the emergence of a mega party yesterday.
They, however, warned the ruling party, PDP, to be weary of the threats posed by the new party, APC.
The lawmakers described the merger as a signal the emergence of a new dawn for Nigeria.
