The main entrance of the National Assembly complex has been shut down as disengaged staffs of National Identity Management Commission protest their sack from the service.
Spokesman of the Protesters Useh Fidelis said "about 4000 staff of the commission were laid off without due process."
According to Fidelis, the aggrieved staffs have made several representations to the National Assembly without fruitful results.
The protesting ex-workers are demanding reinstatement to the service while some are asking for their full benefits.
Meanwhile the two chambers of the National Assembly, the senate and the House of Representatives resumed their plenary session, though the Lawmakers have to use alternative entrance behind the National Assembly to enter into the complex.
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) was established by the federal government in 2007 to manage the National Identity Database and to assign a Unique National
Identification Number and issue General Multi-Purpose Cards to registered individuals.
