If there is one act most
Africans, especially Nigerians, detest with passion, it is definitely going to
be homosexuality. The act is widely kicked against by many, though it is
gradually eating into the fabric of the African culture.
Few weeks ago, the first gay
marriage in the continent was held in South Africa. In Nigeria, those who
practice same sex do it in secret. Though the act is spreading fast in the
Nigerian society, nobody, especially public figures, wants to be associated
with the detestable act.
Homosexuality is one issue
celebrities would not want to be associated with even as many of them have been
severally alleged to be fully involved in it.
It will be recalled that the
country's national assembly recently passed a law that imposes prison terms of
14 years on whoever engages in same sex marriage.
For Nollywood actress, Dayo
Amusa, who was once alleged to be a lesbian, homosexuality is a big deal and
she would not want her name to be associated with the act.
In a recent interview, the
popular actress cleared the air on the rumour making the rounds that she
practices lesbianism. She said, “don't mind them, how can I be a lesbian and
[still] write a story to preach against it? They said I am a lesbian, while
another blogger said I am a serial lover. Which one should we believe?”
Continuing, the sultry
actress-cum-producer admitted that lesbians approach her regularly, “Yes, they
(lesbians) make passes at me, [but] I make them understand that I am not into
lesbianism. Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa lesbians make passes at me,” Dayo revealed.
When asked if it is a big deal if
a girl fondles with her boobs since it won't hurt her, the Lagos State-born
entertainer posited that, “it's a big deal, it is not safe. It is demonic.”
“How can a girl fondle with my
boobs?” she asked, adding that, “they are for the opposite sex.”
