Over 14 top fashion
designers across Africa are storming the forth- coming African Fashion
Week London is scheduled for Old Truman Brewery, London, U.K in the
first week of August.
The
event which will be rounded off with a colourful banquet on August 4th
at the Dorchester, London is sponsored by telecoms giant, Globacom.
The
show which will be graced by super model and hollywood actress, Naomi
Campbell will also have in attendance the top designers who have
confirmed their participation in the event.
Top
on the list is Adebayo Jones, the Nigeria-born designer who recently celebrated
his 25th year in fashion. London-based Adebayo, a style consultant,
is synonymous with exquisite fashion and his collection was widely showcased at
the second edition of African Fashion Week in 2012. He will be showcasing his
latest designs at the AFWL.
Thula
Sindi from South Africa will also feature at the show. His creations have
variously been described as elegant, sophisticated, chic, feminine and
timeless. Thuli’s collection at the 2011 Jo’burg Fashion Week was described as
a celebration of femininity. His work has graced many runways including Hong
Kong, Beijing, New York, Lagos and Paris, where he had his first show in 2007.
Another
top designer expected at the event is Zizi Cardow. Her works have been
featured in all local and international media including CNN, FTV, SABC and
CHANNEL O. A multiple-award winning designer, Zizi has been able to sell
Nigerian fabrics and culture to the world. Since she launched her label ‘Zizi’
in 2000, her list of awards keeps growing while her designs have been showcased
on many catwalks from Milan to Paris, Cape Town, USA and beyond.
Ella
and Gabby is a Nigeria-based contemporary fashion brand known for constant
celebration of beauty, boldness, class and pride of a woman with detailed and
simplified art of sophistication and luxurious pieces. The fashion house will
showcase its new Autumn/Winter 2013 “Tropical Sophistication” collection at the
African Fashion week.
Others
expected at the show include Yutees and Halleros, House of Jola, DZYN, Kitoko,
O’mak designs by Uche, House of Farrah, VOU Brown, Gisella Boutique, Sluu by
Sluvin designs and Fay Designz.
They
will storm the third edition of African Fashion Show with different designs
from their outfits as the countdown to the biggest African inspired fashion event in the UK and Europe begins.
Globacom, the major sponsor of
the show has also put in place a promo that will see subscribers on Glo
