DStv B/Ball League: Union Bank Lead, As Playoffs End Today

With two victories out of the two matches they have played so far, Union Bank of Lagos are in the pole position as the 2012/2013 DSTV-sponsored Nigerian Basketball League comes to an end inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, today.

The coach Ayinla Johnson-led ‘Bankers’ Boys’, as Union Bank are popularly called by their fans, defeated Mark Mentors of Abuja 75-62 and Dodan Warriors of Lagos 79-68 in their first and second matches respectively to secure maximum four points at the ongoing National Final Four playoffs.
Kano Pillars of Kano and Mentors, both with a win apiece, are in the second and third positions, with the Colonel Sam Ahmedu, retired, owned Warriors currently placed last on the table.

Going into the final round of matches scheduled to hold today, Union Bank will hope to continue their unbeaten run as they take on Pillars at 3p.m., while Warriors, who have not won any match so far,  will try to redeem their image when they battle Mentors at 5p.m.
Apart from the domestic league title, the top two teams in the playoffs will represent Nigeria at the upcoming African Clubs Championship holding later in the year.
