The sudden death of
the Spiritual Head of Christ Revival Victory Church, Oluwaga Bus Stop, Ipaja,
Ayobo, Lagos, Pastor Ireti Ajanaku was perhaps the surprise of the year across
the south-western states.
Ajanaku had been in
the news lately over the strain relationship between him and his estranged
spiritual daughter and popular gospel musician, Evangelist Tope Alabi, the duo
had been together for almost 13 years before things fell apart between them.
The matter had not fully died down, when news filtered again that the respected
cleric and prophet had kicked the bucket.
According to reports, the late Prophet fell ill about three
weeks ago in his country home in Gbongan, Osun State. A nurse was reportedly
brought to treat him and she gave him sedative to help him
sleep.
It was gathered that he had given up the ghost by the time
his aides went to wake him up for Sunday service the following day.
Shortly after the death of Pastor Ajanku, news went round
that the man of God was involved in fetish practices and that he must have been
using mysterious powers to perform his numerous miracles. But, this was
debunked by sources close to him.
According to one of our sources, who preferred anonymity,
Prophet Ireti Ajanaku was one man of God, whose ways were difficult for people
to know and that he had a very good relationship with God.
Our source maintained that he was a true man of God, which
was why many miracles were performed through him.
He stated that Pastor Ajanaku used to condemn fetish
practices and all kinds of sins including fornication and adultery and that
there was no way he could be involved with idol worshippers or Oro Worshippers
as he always condemned those who embraced such in his lifetime.
A source stated that the Oro Worshippers might have invaded
his residence in protest against his condemnation for their activities, while
he was alive, adding that if he was there member, then something would have
exposed him before his death.
“Pastor Ajanaku was a man they did not understand, he was
filled with the Holy Spirit and he was always ready to help anytime people came
around him for spiritual help. Tope Alabi and her husband got to him as a
childless couple and then they were so poor that they could hardly afford a car
as they were being transported in ‘okada’ (motorcycle). But, today, the story
has changed as Tope later became a mother and she is obviously a successful
musician with local and international shows apart from his albums that sell
like hotcakes,” he said.
Part of the unfulfilled dreams of Pastor Ajanaku, according
to sources, is his plans to build the biggest church auditorium in Ado-Odo Ota
Area of Ogun State.
We learnt that the man of God had acquired over 100 acres
of land in Ota and had acquired land in other places like Kaduna, Adamawa and
Ajah, Lagos, where he planned to build churches.
But, his death has since put paid to that as the projects
are yet to materialize before his demise last month.
Sources also revealed that Pastor Ajanaku planned to expand
his numerous philanthropist projects as he was one man, who used to give to the
poor.
It was learnt that the man of God planned to extend his
hands of fellowship to children in orphanages and make life more comfortable
for them through financial donations and gifts of all kinds on a regular basis.
Pastor Ajanaku was also one man with taste for good things
of life as he usually preached that a child of God should enjoy his/her
father’s wealth since the earth and its fullness belong to God.
So, it was not surprising that Ajanaku usually adorned
fitted and neat outfits with to match shoes and wrist watches. In his garage
were choice wonders-on-wheels ranging from Escalade, Chrysler, Infinity, Q56
and other expensive mobiles, many of which we learnt were gifts from the
numerous people he has prayed for in his lifetime.
“His clients included the high and mighty, successful
politicians, businessmen, traders, entertainers and people of all kinds, who
are alive to testify to what God has used him to do for them,” one of our
sources disclosed.
Those close to
the man of God stated that most of the negative stories told about him after
his death were unfounded rumours that should be expected in such circumstances,
but that only God could judge if Pastor Ajankau was involved in evil practices.
Sources added
that Pastor Ajanaku even warned members of the Association of Nigerian Theatre
Arts Practitioners (ANTP) against idol worshipping, when they consulted him to
pray for them at the time artistes were dying in droves.
“Pastor Ajanaku
told them to stop worshipping idols and believe in Almighty God rather than
being fetish. He told them to destroy all the altars of the devil in their
houses and villages and embrace Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. But this
did not go down well with them, which was why they stopped visiting him,” said
our source.
It was also
revealed last week that Pastor Ajanaku was living with people of other tribes
and his immediate family in his private residence situated in Ajasa Command
Area of Lagos State before his exit from the world and that plans are being
made to release tapes of some of his church services, where people received
miracles for the world to know the stuff he was made of before he was called
home.
‘That Pastor
Ajanaku died at a young age is only known to God, nobody knows when anyone
would die and the enemies of the Kingdom should not rejoice now just because it
is the turn of Ajanaku to go. God can call anyone home, whenever he wishes, it
could be the turn of anybody tomorrow,” a source added.
