Ekiti Election: Fayose Bombs Fashola...Says Lagos Gov Insults Ekiti Electorate

Ekiti State governor -elect, Ayodele Fayose has chided the Lagos State governor, Raji Fashola (SAN) over his comments on the outcome of last Saturday governorship election in Ekiti State.
Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Lagos, Governor Fashola had declared that he was frightened over the results of the election won by the PDP candidate, Ayo Fayose.
The Lagos State governor who claimed that the Ekiti electorate were financially induced by the PDP further expressed concern that Ayo Fayose who is currently facing trial over alleged financial malfeasance during his first tenure as Ekiti governor was allowed to contest an election.
But the governor-elect in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday cautioned Governor Fashola to refrain from insulting the Ekiti electorate.

“The governor’s comment that Ekiti people were induced with money to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is an insult to the entire people of Ekiti State, and we in the PDP will not take lightly anyone insulting Ekiti people under whatever guise.”
The statement signed by the Director General of Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO), Chief Dipo Anisulowo also dismissed Governor Fashola’s remarks as hypocritical.

“The major problem of our friends in the All Progressives Congress (APC) is hypocrisy and until they purge themselves, that hypocrisy will destroy their party.”
“It is only a hypocritical mind like Fashola that would claim that the results of an election as credible as that of last Saturday was induced by money and that Dr Ayodele Fayose ought not to have been voted for by Ekiti people because he was standing trial for alleged corruption.”

While faulting Fashola’s submission that Ayo Fayose should have been disqualified from the race, the Fayose Campaign Organisation recalled that former Kogi State governor and APC chieftain was fielded as the governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in Kogi State in 2011, while still standing trial for alleged financial sleaze.
Fayose also cited the case of the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Adeyemi Kuforiji, also standing trial for alleged corruption.
“Fashola should first remove the timber in his eyes before talking about the speck in other people’s eyes.”

“It is on record that it was the APC that induced voters with cash ranging from N5, 000 to N10, 000, and many of the party chieftains were arrested while distributing money to voters.
“It is also on record that former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Audu was standing trial when he was fielded as Action Congress of Nigeria governorship candidate in 2011.
