Cybersecurity Summit To Address IT Risk, Threats

The West African Cybersecurity Summit will provide a platform for government officials and businesses to learn about the sophisticated solutions to tackle cybersecurity threats.
According to a statement by the organisers of the summit, Afrocet Montgomery, Nigeria is one of the world’s fastest growing cybersecurity economies in Africa.

It added that the summit, slated for March 21, 2018 in Lagos alongside Securex West Africa, would present an opportunity to learn about essential market developments, key trends, cutting-edge technology and ways to address the latest risks and threats in the industry.
According to the company, cybersecurity is a rapidly growing problem fuelled by the high levels of poverty and the lack of legal policies to prevent and prosecute perpetrators.

“This increase has driven the market demand for cybersecurity solutions in recent years, with Nigeria at the epicentre of it all,” the statement said.
It said recent reports showed that the Federal Government had predicted the annual cost of cybercrime in Nigeria to be around 0.08 per cent of the country’s overall Gross Domestic Product, which was estimated at N127bn.
The statement added, “This invitation-only summit will welcome 150 senior cybersecurity representatives from both the private and public sectors, all eager to be at the forefront of innovation in the industry.
