CAF Confed Cup: Enyimba Coach Hopeful of Advancing

Enyimba coach Usman Abdalla said his team still has a chance of reaching the knock-out stage of the the CAF Confederation Cup. If they can win their next two games.
Enyimba are away to Djoliba on August 18, before they welcome CARA Brazzaville 10 days later to conclude their Group C campaign.

“It’s sad we went down at Williamsville in Cote d’Ivoire, but we must get up and stand shoulder high in our next two (last) games”, started Abdalla who stepped up following the departure of Paul Aigbogun. “We must get the result in Mali and then finish it up at home against Carra Brazzaville of Congo. “No doubt it won’t be a walk in the park at Djoliba but it is down to hard work on our part to get the job done”. Enyimba are yet to win the CAF Confederation Cup in their illustrious sojourn on the continent. Enyimba triumphed 2-0 in their corresponding clash against Djoliba and Abdalla recalls the Malians strong credentials and qualities. “They are a strong and disciplined side, well organised”, he recalled.

“Their game is anchored on midfield, where they string lots of passes together to wear their opponents down. “They are dangerous going forward, but my players know what is at stake, we should be able to convert our chances and also improve on our overall quality in every department of the team as we look forward to a good performance in Mali.” Williamsville AC sit top of the group with seven points, while CARA Brazzaville of Congo with six points, same as Enyimba, are second with superior goals’ difference, forcing the Nigerians down to third spot.
