Majek Faskek, Sunny Nneji, Others Pay Final Tribute To Ras Kimono

Renowned musicians, Majek Fashek, Tony Okoroji, Sunny Neji and others have paid their last tribute to the late reggae artist, Ras Kimono.
Family and friends of late reggae musician, Ras Kimono, prominent figures in the entertainment industry on Wednesday gathered to pay their last respects to him at the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) house in Lagos.

It was an emotion-laden day as many gave tributes in memory of him.
Chairman of COSON, Tony Okoroji, described the reggae legend as a man who stood for peace and unity.
“There will not be another Kimono. Kimono was a great uniter, a great guy who was completely detribalized,” he said.

Similarly, veteran singer, Sunny Nneji, described him as a ‘game changer’ for reggae music.
He said, “It is difficult for me to measure but I would say he had great influence on the Nigeria reggae scene, I would say Kimono literally single-handedly changed the entire reggae sound in Nigeria.
“His music wasn’t about the sound, but the consciousness of his lyrics”.
According to Majek Fashek, another veteran in the industry, and a one-time bandmate of the late Kimono, he was a humble man who stood for love.

“He was a good man, a humble man, he was like me, he stood for one love,” the singer said.
Also, veteran broadcaster, Bisi Olatilo who was a close friend of Kimono said the loss was still unbelievable.
He, however, said the singer lived a good life, worthy of celebration rather than mourning.
Ras Kimono died on June 10, 2018.
His remains will finally be laid to rest on Saturday at his hometown, Onicha Olona in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
