Samsung Galaxy S10 Models Certified, Note 10 May Have Headphone Jack

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series isn’t set to go official until MWC 2019 in February. But despite this being almost five months away, the South Korean giant has already submitted the three main models for testing in China.

Samsung Galaxy S10 is the company's next flagship smartphone and is expected to launch in the first half of 2019. While there is still some time left before the official announcement, leaks are already churning the rumour mill with features and specifications that we can expect in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 handset. A new report has suggested that the Galaxy S10 series will be available in three variants. The smartphone has now allegedly received a certification in China and the listing has hinted at some of the details. Talking about Samsung's 2019 flagships, the South Korean giant is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy Note 10 later that year. A new leak has suggested that the smartphone will not come with a headphone jack.

As mentioned, it has been spotted that not just a single model but three variants of the Galaxy S10 have purportedly reached the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) for the formal certification. The listing on the CMIIT site, as spotted by folks at ITHome, does not reveal any details in terms of specifications, price, and availability of the Samsung Galaxy S10. However, this ultimately hints that Samsung is set to launch the new Galaxy S-Series model sometime in the coming future.

Notably, the models shown in the CMIIT listing come with the model numbers SM-G9700, SM-G9730 and SM-G9750. It is interesting because, three Galaxy S10 models with model numbers SM-G970F, SM-G975F, and SM-G973F were spotted last month. It is possible that the new model numbers indicate China-specific variants. As mentioned, the alleged CMIIT certification does not reveal anything about the specifications of the smartphone.

According to previous reports, two of the variants will sport 5.8-inch display panels, and the other one will get a 6.44-inch panel. Rumours had suggested that the smartphone models will come in single-camera, dual-camera, and triple camera variants. Two of the models may also get an in-display fingerprint sensor. In any case, Samsung had already confirmed that the Galaxy S10 will be 5G compatible.

Coming to the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S11, as per an ETNews report, Samsung is considering removing the headphone jack on both of its 2019 and 2020 flagships. he According to the report, the company is planning to get rid of the 3.5mm audio jack in the smartphones released after Autumn 2019, so either the Galaxy Note 10 or the Galaxy S11 will be equipped with one less port. However, the report adds, the USB Type-C to 3.5mm converter will be present in the retail box.

The report says that there are no details on the reason why Samsung wants to remove the 3.5mm audio jack, but smartphone design might be an explanation. By removing the jack, the company could free up space that could then be used for a bigger battery size, or add other components, or even remove the bottom bezels.
