    Nigerian FinTech Awards 2019 to Reward Innovation, Call for Entries

    Organiser of The Nigerian FinTech Awards,an integral part of the week long Lagos Fintech Week, will recognize and reward innovation in the use of information technology in the financial industry as well those who have contributed to its success.
    A statement signed by chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Yele Okeremi, informed that there will be a total of over 13 different award categories to vie for when The Nigerian Fintech Awards comes up in April at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
    The awards will promote the Best Research in Fintech in order to encourage more Fintech companies and technology startups to invest in research as a strategy to deepen products offerings and extend usage beyond our shores.

    According to him, the most important award at The Nigerian Fintech Awards would be the Fintech Startup of the Year.
    While elaborating on this awards, he said that the “judges seek a FinTech start-up business (business or core service launched in the past 18 months) that has disrupted the financial services sector with new and innovative services, created competition and transformed the way we experience financial services”.
    Other award categories include Fintech leader of the year, Female Fintech leader of the year, Fintech Startup of the year, Fintech innovation in biometrics tool/cyber security platform, Fintech innovation in customer engagement and best Fintech-Bank collaboration of the year and others.

    The complete list of the awards is:

    BEST FINTECH COMMUNICATIONSCAMPAIGN
    The judges are looking for the campaign that helped a fintech business or service scale, gain traction orawareness. This award will be judged on creativity and results, and will be mindful of the size of the campaign budget and media spend.

    BEST RESEARCH IN FINTECH
    The judges will be looking for peer reviewed primary or secondary research that pushes the boundaries in fintech, and puts Nigeria on the world stage

    BEST FINTECH-BANK COLLABORATION OF THE YEAR
    The judges are looking for specific projects, or products, that showcase how a bank and a fintech firm have worked together, either in collaboration, or using open APIs

    FINTECH LEADER OF THE YEAR
    The judges are looking for an outstanding individual who has persistently contributed to the advancement of the fintech sector

    FEMALE FINTECH LEADER OF THE YEAR
    The judges are looking for an outstanding female individual who has persistently contributed to the advancement of the fintech sector

    FINTECH CTO/CIO OF THE YEAR
    The judges will be looking for an outstanding CTO or CIO who has created or led cutting edge innovation, a CTO or CIO who may have taken a calculated risk and the risk has paid off.

    INSURE-TECH STARTUP OF THE YEAR
    The judges are seeking an Insurance based FinTech start-up business (business or core service launched in the past 18 months) that has disrupted the insurance/risk sector with new and innovative services.

    REG TECH
    The judges are seeking a FinTech start-up business (business or core service launched in the past 18 months) that has launched a new service, or disrupted the regulatory/compliance sector with new and innovative service(s) that facilitates the delivery of regulatory requirements.This category would suit fintechs in the areas of KYC and AML, and/or assisting financial services companies in their compliance obligations.

    FINTECH STARTUP OF THE YEAR
    This is the most important award of the night.The Judges are seeking a FinTech start-up business (business or core service launched in the past 18 months) that has disrupted the financial services sector with new and innovative services, creating competition and transforming the way we experience financial services.

    FINTECH INNOVATION IN BIOMETRICS TOOL/CYBER SECURITY PLATFORM
    If the impact of major hacks in the last few years alone is any indication, cybersecurity needs to be front of mind for firms designing technology that handles money. Companies in this category areworking to make sure everyone is financially cyber- secure.

    FINTECH INNOVATION IN CUSTOMERS ENGAGEMENT
    Even in a data-driven age, the keys to success still remain the same - talk to your customers, find out how you can solve their problems, and you'll be successful if you can do so. Companies in this category spent the time getting to know their customers and had it pay off.

    BEST DIGITAL BANK
    As the financial services industry gets more and more tech-savvy, many processes are moving from bank branches to mobile phones. Some companies are ditching the branch model entirely with purely online operations. Companies in this category are creating all-in-one online banking experiences

    FINTECH INNOVATION IN FINANCIAL INCLUSION
    This category is dedicated to companies who are solving problems for people of lower income.
