“Star Wars” actor John Boyega continues to be a force in the movie business. The British-Nigerian actor has his sights set on content creation and just nabbed a new deal with Netflix.
The 27-year-old English star and his UpperRoom Productions company are teaming up with Netflix to create non-English-language films with a focus on West and East Africa, the streaming service announced.
The projects will feature stories, characters, actors and other elements relating to African countries.
“I am thrilled to partner with Netflix to develop a slate of non-English language feature films focused on African stories and my team and I are excited to develop original material," Boyega said in a statement. “We are proud to grow this arm of our business with a company that shares our vision.”
Boyega recently starred in his third “Star Wars” film, last December’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” again playing the Stormtrooper-turned-Resistance hero Finn.
He made his debut in a galaxy far, far away in 2015′s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Other notable projects for the London-born star include “Detroit” (2017) and “Pacific Rim: Uprising" (2018).
