    COVID-19 Cases Hits 1,182 as Nigeria Records 87 New Cases

    More than 200,000 people have died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, while over 2.9 million infections have been confirmed in at least 210 countries and territories around the world. Over 800,000 people have recovered to date.

    The figures of the novel coronavirus cases in Nigeria have continued to rise as confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria hits 1,182 after 87 people tested positive in 24 hours.

    The Nigeria Center of Disease Control (NCDC) on its verified twitter handle on Saturday night, said 33 of the new cases were recorded in Lagos, 18 cases in Borno, 12 cases in Osun, 9 cases in Katsina, 4 cases in Kano, 4 cases in Ekiti, 3 cases in Edo, 3 cases in Bauchi and 1 case in Imo.

    Imo is the latest state to have joined other 27 states affected by Coronavirus infection.

    According to NCDC, “As at April 25, Nigeria has recorded #COVID19 confirmed cases in 28 states and the Federal Capital Territory. In the last 24 hours, number of new cases increased by 87,  number people discharge by 14, and number of deaths increased by 3.

    As at 11:55 pm 25th April there are 1,182 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. While 222 discharged and 35 death recorded


    The Lagos state government on Saturday discharged six COVID-19 patients who have tested negative twice for the virus.

    The state ministry of health announced in a tweet on Saturday night.
    The patients discharged includes 3 females and 3 males.

    They were discharged from the isolation facility at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

    However, this brings the number of patients successfully managed and discharged in Lagos to 123.
