Neville Calls for EFL Help, David Silva Hints Manchester City Return

Football in England remains on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic but talks are ongoing over a potential return with another meeting as recently as Monday.

The government gave football in England the green light to restart play when it's safe to do so earlier this week, handing a significant boost to Liverpool's title hopes.

Premier League clubs gave their approval on Monday for a return to training, with a maximum group size of five, the first step on the road to a return to football.

As the Reds await the latest, we're here you keep you up to date with the latest from their rivals.

    Neville calls for EFL help
Manchester United great Gary Neville has called on Premier League and Championship clubs to help solve the financial crisis for League One and League Two clubs by waving any charges for loan players.

With EFL chairman Rick Parry predicting a bleak financial forecast for lower-league clubs that are dependent on matchday income, there has already been an example of teams scaling back.

"It would be very helpful if Premier League clubs and Championship clubs, who have got more money, could loan players down to League One and League Two for no money,! Neville told The Football Show.

"The teams that do loan down to League One and League Two would ordinarily charge. I think if you wanted to relieve the economic pain for the next two or three years, you could potentially, not partnerships, but a way that Premier League and Championship could soften the economical blow for the clubs in the lower divisions by not charging for players."

    Kante granted compassionate leave
N'Golo Kante has been granted compassionate leave by Chelsea - and will be missing training this week due to his fears over health and safety.

Players have been heading back to training this week as the Premier League aim to get the season restarted - and Kante returned to Cobham on Tuesday as instructed.

However, since then he has been absent, with head coach Frank Lampard and the club agreeing he could miss subsequent sessions, according to the Standard.

    David Silva hint
David Silva gave Manchester City fans the news they were fearing when he confirmed he will not be at the club next seaso but he might have left the door open for a return to the Etihad in the future.

Silva has been expected to leave City this summer, but the uncertainty surrounding the end of the season had given some supporters hope he could be persuaded to stay for another season to say a proper goodbye to fans.

"When I say one thing, I move forward," Silva told AS.
"I am sorry, I have been here ten years and I have fulfilled what I wanted.

"The cycle closes here, but I will always keep this club in mind for everything I have lived. From the first moment people have treated me incredible. Here they have a great respect for you, people give admiration towards you. Now we need my family and I another challenge."
