The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday recorded additional 148 cases of coronavirus, bringing the total confirmed infections so far in the country to 2950.

The NCDC also said that five new patients have been confirmed dead from the virus in the country, bringing the total number of death to 98.

The agency on its confirmed twitter handle on Tuesday night said that the new cases were recorded from 16 states.

According to a post by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Twitter, Lagos led in the number of cases  with 43 new infections, 32 in Kano, 9 in Kastina, 10 in FCT and 14 in Zamfara.

While 7 cases in Taraba, Borno and Ogun reported 6 cases each, 5 in Oyo. Edo, Kaduna and Bauchi reported 3 cases each, Adamawa and Gombe have 2 cases each. Plateau, Sokoto and Kebbi also recorded one case of the novel coronavirus each.

According to NCDC, as at 11:45 pm, May 5, Nigeria has 2950 Cases of COVID-19 and 481 Treated and Discharge in the country.

No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

Relief As Lagos State Government Discharges 60 Coronavirus Patients In Massive Recovery.

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday discharged 60 Coronavirus patients after they tested negative twice for the virus in a massive breakthrough.

This is the largest number of recovered patients to be discharged by the state in a single day since the pandemic broke out.

The government on Monday also discharged 14 patients who survived the virus.

According to the Lagos State Ministry of Health, on its twitter handle, 60 more coronavirus patients had been discharged.

It said those discharged included 40 male and 20 female and that they were all Nigerians.

The government said 31 of the patients were discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital, IDH, Yaba; 19 from Ibeju-Lekki and 10 from Eti-Osa (Landmark) Isolation Centres.

“60 more #COVID19 Lagos patients; 20 females and 40 males, all Nigerians were today discharged from our Isolation facilities in Yaba, Ibeju-Lekki & Eti-Osa (Landmark) to reunite with the society.

“The patients; 31 from IDH, Yaba, 19 from Ibeju-Lekki and 10 from the Eti-Osa (LandMark) Isolation Centres have fully recovered and tested negative twice consecutively to #COVID19.

“With this, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged in Lagos is now 321,” it said.

Till date, 2950 cases have been confirmed, 481 cases have been discharged and 98 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory
