Space Force Trailer: Steve Carell Leading the Charge to Colonize Space

Netflix released the first trailer for Space Force, a new workplace comedy starring Steve Carell. While The Office cast may be more likely to reunite on John Kransinki's YouTube channel, the new Netflix show could appeal to fans of the NBC sitcom.

In Space Force, Carell plays a general in the United States Army who finds himself working with a scientist to get the Army's Space Force off the ground. The new Netflix show, which is made by the same team as The Office, is full of quietly funny moments like Carell's character dancing to Kokomo by The Beach Boys or a failed rocket launch that's worth four new middle schools.

While Carell is the lead actor, the Space Force is stacked with famous names. Some others are Lisa Kudrow, John Malkovich, and Ben Schwartz from Parks and Recreation. The show also stars Diana Silvers, who was in Booksmart along with Kaitlyn Dever, and comedian Tawny Newsome.

Netflix's subscriber numbers have increased greatly as more people stay inside because of COVID-19, and because of the success of shows like The Witcher. However, a new comedy like Space Force could also get people in. This could also become Netflix's version of The Office after NBCUniversal announced plans to pull the show from the streaming service in 2020 so that it could add it to its own streaming service, Peacock, in 2021.
