    Yoruba Tennis Club Distributes Palliatives to Communities Within Onikan

    An indigenous social club, Yoruba Tennis Club, on Thursday presented food palliatives comprising of rice, beans and garri to members of the public, especially, communities around where the club is domiciled in Onikan, Lagos.

    The Chairman of the club, Architect Olawunmi Agbaje, who in company of other prominent members of the club handed over the food palliatives to the residents of Lawson, Bassey, Araromi, Campus, Beckley Communities, expressed concern for the wellbeing of residents of the state, especially during this Covid-19 season.

    He stressed that this was the best time to show love and care to the people, hence the collective and unanimous decision by the elders, management and members of the Yoruba Tennis Club, to look around and put smiles on the members of the public, especially, those living around where the club is situated.

    Agbaje also commended the Lagos State Government for proactively combating the spread of the virus, saying if not for the timely intervention and proactiveness of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his cabinet members, “what we are witnessing today, as far as the containment of the pandemic is concerned, would not have been possible.”

    “We thank God for the proactive nature of the Lagos State Governor and its entire team for setting the ball rolling even when the virus had not entered the country, hence the reason for the successes recorded in fighting the pandemic”, Agbaje said.

    He maintained that the club was also motivated to lend helping hands to the government by putting smiles on the faces of those living in our environment, just as he added that the palliatives was financed from the Club’s benevolent fund.

    Apart from the communities, the club also gave food palliatives to the Federal Fire Service Station, Onikan, Nigeria Police Station, Onikan and Onikan Health Centre.

    In his remark, the Managing Director, Onikan Health Centre, Dr. Peters Oladipupo, expressed appreciation to the members and the management of Yoruba Tennis Club, for deeming it fit to remember the Health Centre for the food palliatives, just as he prayed that the good Lord will continue to bless the members and the entire management of the club.

    Also in her remark, another palliative recipient at Lawson Street, Obalende, Mrs Sariyu Gbadamosi, was full of joy as she got her own pack from the members of the club.

    She expressed appreciation to all the members of the club and prayed that their source of finance would not run dry.
