    389 New COVID-19 Infections Confirmed, as Total Cases in Nigeria Exceed 12,000

    389 new cases of the COVID-19 infections have been reported in Nigeria, as the total number of infections in the country increased to 12,233. Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), announced this on Saturday night.

    NCDC also noted that a total of 3,826 patients have now recovered from the virus and have subsequently been discharged as 130 new patients was discharged on Saturday from isolation centers.
    While the death toll from the virus increased by nine, raising the total number of deaths to 342.

    Confirming the new cases on its verified Twitter handle, NCDC said Lagos recorded 66 new cases, FCT with 50 cases, Delta reported 32, Oyo confirmed 31 cases, Borno reported 26 cases, while 24 cases were reported in Rivers, 23 cases were confirmed in Edo and Ebonyi.

    Other states with their figures were as follows: Anambra and Gombe 17 cases each, Nasarawa with 14 cases, Imo, Kano, Sokoto reported 12 cases each, Jigawa-8 cases, Ogun-7 cases, Bauchi-5 cases. Also Kebbi, Kaduna, Katsina and Ondo confirmed 2 cases each, Abia and Niger with one case each.

    Nigeria has so far tested 74,999 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    On the 6th of June 2020, 389 new confirmed cases and 9 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 12233 cases have been confirmed, 3826 cases have been discharged and 342 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Earlier today, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has deployed thousads of relief items to Katsina State.

    This intervention is coming after a motion was moved on the floor of the Senate by a senator representing katsina Central Senatorial District, asking the Federal Government to provide succor and come to the aid of persons displaced by the activities of armed bandits in the state.

    The items comprising of rice, beans, Garri, Vegetable oil, salt, cartons of seasoning, canned tomatoes, mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, nylon mats, plastic buckets among others have been handed over to the Katsina state government for onward distribution to the affected persons in the Eight Frontline Local Government Areas of Dutsinma, Safana, Danmusa, Batsari, Sabuwa, Kankara, Faskari and Batagarawa.

    Speaking at the office of the state Deputy Governor on Saturday, Engineer Mannir Yakubu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sa’adiyya Umar Farouk announced that the ministry is also presenting to the state government a total of 139 trucks of assorted grains from the National Food Reserve as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari as palliatives for the COVID-19 response for onward distribution to the poor and vulnerable persons in the state.
