    COVID-19 Infections in Nigeria Exceed 25,000 as NCDC Reports 566 New Cases

    Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 566 new cases of coronavirus infections in the country on Monday.

    The spread of novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria reached a new milestone as the latest statistics provided by the NCDC reveal Nigeria now has a total of 25,133 confirmed cases.

    The health agency also announced the discharge of 395 patients from isolation centers across the country with eight new deaths reported.

    Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria recorded the highest number of confirmed cases with 166 new infection taking the total number of cases in Lagos to 10,310.

    Lagos, Oyo, and Delta recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Monday, with 166, 66 and 53 cases respectively.

    Also 43 cases of the virus were found in Ebonyi, while Plateau had 34 cases, Ondo reported 32 cases, FCT confirmed 26 cases, Ogun had 25 cases and 24 cases were found in Edo.

    Other states with new cases are: Imo-15, Bayelsa-13, Benue-12, Gombe-11, Kano-11, Kaduna-11, Osun-8, Nasarawa-7, Borno-5, Katsina-2 and Anambra-2.

    As of the time of reporting, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least a case of the disease. Only one state, Cross River, is yet to report any case of the virus.

    Nigeria has so far tested 132,304 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    On the 20th of June 2020, 566 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 25,133 cases have been confirmed, 9402 cases have been discharged and 573 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
