    COVID-19 Infections: Nigeria Reports Highest Single Day Increase

    Nigeria’s tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday night rose to 24,077 as 779 new infections were announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), another highest single day increase since the first confirmed case in Nigeria was announced on 27 February 2020.
    The NCDC disclosed this on its verified Twitter handle on Saturday night.

    Four death was recorded from the virus on Saturday as the death toll hits 558. 
    The number of recovered and discharged patients from the virus is also increased to  8,625 after 372 was discharge today.

    The agency in a tweet said the new cases were reported in 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
    Lagos accounts for the highest number of the infections reported with 258 cases, 68 cases in Rivers, 60 cases each in FTC and Edo, 56 cases in Enugu and Delta reported 47 cases.

    Other states with new cases as follows: Ebonyi-42, Oyo-41, Kaduna-19, Ogun-18, Ondo-16, Imo-12, Sokoto-11, Borno-9, Nasarawa-8, Abia-5, Gombe-5, Kebbi-5, Kano-4, Yobe-3, Ekiti-3 and Osun-2

    There was an increase in the number of infections (779) reported on Thursday compared to the number [684] reported Friday.

    Nigeria has so far tested 127,158 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    On the 27th of June 2020, 779 new confirmed cases and 4 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 24077 cases have been confirmed, 8625 cases have been discharged and 558 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
