The number of infections in the Nigeria has been increasing at a rapid rate. With the latest update, the total tally of coronavirus infections in the country rose to 13,873 as 409 new COVID-19 infections were announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control late Wednesday.
The agency also announced that no fewer than 382 patients have died of coronavirus-related complications after Seventeen new deaths were recorded from the virus on Wednesday.
Also 145 people were discharged from various isolation centre in the country, raising the total figure of patients discharged to 4,351
The health agency in a tweet on Wednesday night said the new cases were reported in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Lagos, FCT, and Delta recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, with 210, 85 and 22 cases respectively.
Other states with new cases reported as follows: Edo-16, Nasarawa-14, Borno-14, Kaduna-14, Bauchi-10, Rivers-9, Enugu-5, Kano-5, Ogun-4, Ondo-4, Bayelsa-2, Kebbi-2, Plateau-2
Nigeria has tested 82,935 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.
As of the time of reporting, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least a case of the disease. Only one state, Cross River, is yet to report any case of the virus.
On the 10th of June 2020, 409 new confirmed cases and 17 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
