    Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Hits 22,020 as NCDC Announces 649 New Infections

    Nigeria reported 649 new cases of COVID-19  infections on Wednesday, as the total cases rose to 22,020. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official Twitter handle.

    Nine deaths were recorded from the virus, taking the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 542.
    NCDC also announced the discharge of 275 patients from isolation centers across the country on Wednesday, total now 7,613

    Announcing the new cases, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the new cases in 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The breakdown of the figures shows that Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos leads other states with 250 cases of the virus infections, followed by Oyo with 100 cases, Plateau and Delta had 40 cases each, Abia confirmed 28 cases and Kaduna reported 27 cases.

    Other state with new cases are as follows: Ogun-22, Edo-20, Akwa Ibom-18, Kwara-17, FCT-17, Enugu-14, Niger-13, Adamawa-13, Bayelsa-7, Osun-6, Bauchi-6, Anambra-4, Gombe-3, Sokoto-2, Imo-1 and Kano-1.

    Nigeria has so far tested 120,108 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    As of the time of reporting, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least a case of the disease. Only one state, Cross River, is yet to report any case of the virus.

    On the 24th of June 2020, 649 new confirmed cases and 9 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 22,020 cases have been confirmed, 7,613 cases have been discharged and 542 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
