    Nigeria Records 350 New Cases of COVID-19 Infections

    Nigeria’s tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday rose to 11,516 as 350 new infections were announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
    The NCDC disclosed this on its verified Twitter handle on Thursday night.

    Eight death was recorded from the virus on Thursday bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 323

    The number of recovered and discharged patients from the virus is also increased to 3,535 after 206 was discharge today.

    The agency in a tweet late Thursday night said the new cases were reported in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The spread of the virus further intensified in Lagos state as the state recorded 102 new cases, followed by Ogun with 34 cases and FCT with 29 cases.

    Borno accounts for 26 of the cases, 23 in Kaduna, 21 in River, 16 in Kwara, 17 in Ebonyi, 14 in Katsina. Ten cases each in Edo, Delta, Kano and Bauchi.

    Bayelsa reported nine cases, Imo confirmed eight cases, Plateau reported four cases, Ondo recorded three cases, Nasarawa reported two cases, one cases each in Gombe and Oyo.

    There was an increase in the number of infections [350] reported on Thursday compared to the number [348] reported Wednesday.

    On the 4th of June 2020, 350 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 11516 cases have been confirmed, 3535 cases have been discharged and 323 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.


    Earlier, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has affirmed that the World Health Organization has resumed its use of Hydroxychloroquine in the fight against COVID-19.

    This was confirmed by the Chairman of the Committee and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, during the PTF’s briefing today.

    The PTF Chairman warned however, that Nigerians must desist from rushing to buy the drug in a bid to self medicate.

    Boss Mustapha also noted that overseeing the second phase of the ease of lockdown is a critical role which state governments must play diligently.

    Mr Mustapha reminded the public on the need to comply with the guidelines for worship centers, insisting that compliance is very important at this time.

    The Secretary General assured that the PTF will continue to monitor situations across the country and stressed that the committee will not hesitate to review its decisions if need be.

    He urged members of the public to cooperate with the government and health authorities when it comes to contact tracing.
